A: There is a lot of competition out there for photographers, so what gives you the edge? Having a website is definitely a must but why a flash site? The answer is simple: presentation. Potential clients are going to be searching the web and coming across a lot of photographers, you need to have a site that really showcases your work and creates an emotional connection with your style. A flash site really showcases your work in the most flattering manner so your clients can get a sense of the emotion you captured as well as the technical excellence. DO FLASH SITES LOAD SLOWER THEN HTML SITES?
A: For the most part they do, but on high speed connections the difference is nominal. If your in an area with a lot of dial-up users, or non-tech savvy users, an html site or blogsite is your best choice. If you are in a metro area or big city we recommend the flash sites as most your visitors will have high speed connections and appreciate the multimedia experience of your website.
SHOULD I GO WITH A HTML SITE, BLOGSITE OR FLASH SITE?
A: This really depends on your location, target audience, and your ability to update the site regularly. If you are in an area with dial-up connections then an html site or blogsite is best. A blogsite is best if you want both the fast loading html of wordpress and the multimedia presentation of a flash site for your headers and galleries. With a blogsite it is important to be able to update it regularly with posts, otherwise it may give the impression you don’t have many clients or much work. If you want to create an emotional multimedia experience for your work a flash site is best. A flash site also is the better choice if you don’t think you’ll be updating it regularly.
