QUICK TIPS

GOOD TO KNOW:
Unfortunately the new direct linking system does put some limitations of what buttons can be called since the button name is used in the url address. Because of this special characters such as / | \ ? & * $ % # @ ( ) " ' , . etc. CANNOT be used in button names. If a section isn't loading it could be due to punctuation or special characters being in the button names. The worst are / and ? for preventing sections from loading.

Image Sizing:

This template will resize images based on the max height set in the sitezadmin->edit settings (tab) -> edit general settings and site colors. The interface will resize depending on the viewers browsers, but it will never go over the max height set. The minimum the image should be is 650px tall. Everything is calculated based on the height so the width does not matter.

All sections take vertical images. The galleries and the homepage slideshow are the only sections that take horizontal images.

Gallery Images: max height set in the sitezadmin
Proofing Images: max height set in the sitezadmin
Homepage Images: max height set in the sitezadmin
Contact Image : any vertical image
Calendar Image : any vertical image
Contact Image : any vertical image
Text Section Image : any vertical image
Proofing Login Page: any vertical image
Gallery Portal Thumbnails: 200px150px
Splash Page Image: any image under 900px x 700px

If you are resizing your images prior to uploading be sure to 'save them for web' so that they aren't large kb wise. All images should be under 200kb, for faster loading keeping them around 100kb is even better.

Colors:

All colors can be changed via your sitezadmin -> edit settings (tab) -> edit general settings and color. To have the content panel change color (the part with the logo) you'll need to check the option 'content panel change to section color'. The 'background change color' option works for any uploaded background. If you upload a jpg and have this option checked then it will turn into a solid color and change colors. If you have a transparent png then that will allow the png to change color and the solid background color to appear in the transparent parts of the png.

Videos:

videos can be any size/ratio. If no width and height are entered then they will play at their true size. If a width and height is entered for the video then it will play at that width and height.

videos must be in flv format or H.264 encrypted (non protected) .mov, .m4p, or *.f4v format. The player will play any size flv, but we recommend it be under 350 px tall and 700 px wide. Check our knowledgebase for workarounds for larger videos and uploading videos if a steady fast connection is not available.

back

Logo :

the logo can be either a .png or .jpg.
logo recommended max: 250px wide by 300 px tall. You can select to have the logo resize in the admin or stay the same size no matter what size the interface resizes to.

back

Contact Form :

your contact form will be sent to the email address entered in the contact section of your admin. The email address entered as your site email address should be a single valid email address from your domain (ie- info@yourdomain.com). Please see our knowledgebase for how to setup the email address in cpanel.

Email sent from scripts tends to go into junk mail so it is good to check your junk/bulk mail on a regular basis to ensure no emails through the form are missed.

Shopping Cart :

FAVORITES:
The shopping cart that comes with this template is our generation 2 cart. This means that it has a different front-end then our original one. It also has a different favorites system. Clients no longer need to create a username and password and manually save their favorites, they are automatically saved in the gallery. This means that the favorites are tied to the client and therefore only one set can be created/saved per client, everyone who logs in with that password will see the favorites saved and be able to change them.

VISIBILITY AND PRICE LISTS:
With this template you can change the visibility of the cart per gallery, front-end or backend. All galleries/clients will see the products and packages, at this time individual price lists are not supported.

ORDERING and PAYPAL:
You can set whether you want your clients to pay you via paypal or offline, and whether to offer shipping or not. You can set these in the sitezadmin->shopping cart (tab) -> edit shopping cart settings. If you choose to use paypal all you have to do to connect the cart with paypal is enter your paypal email address (the one you use to login to their site) in the shopping cart settings. That is it :-) As long as you have a paypal account (the basic one is fine) you can start accepting money. The cart basically generates a paypal 'buy now' button for the amount your client owes you and creates a button they can click to get over to paypal to pay it.

CPanel and Bandwidth:

Your CPanel
1. You can access your CPanel either at cpanel.yourdomain.com or https://yourdomain.com:2083 (note the https). Your username and password are the ones from your welcome email. Your CPanel is where you would go to setup your email accounts, add ftp accounts, check your stats, and check your bandwidth.

Bandwidth
The bandwidth is the amount of kbs uploaded and downloaded from your account during any given month. To decrease bandwidth usage you can upload pre-sized images, set any blogs to show only the latest 2-3 posts at a time, and cut down on any videos or music used throughout the site. You can monitor your bandwidth directly from your CPanel, it will appear on the column on the left right after you login. Unfortunately our system doesn't allow for warning to be mailed out, so it is important to log into your CPanel a couple times a month to check on your bandwidth to avoid suspension.

SEO and Google:

Google Analytics
1. We have built in a lot of support for google's apps. You can enter the google analytics code directly into your site in the sitezadmin->edit settings (tab) -> edit stats. You would just copy and paste the complete block of code which should look something like this:

<script type="text/javascript">
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
try {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-7322477-1");
pageTracker._trackPageview();
} catch(err) {}</script>

Google Verification:
1. You can add the meta tag that google requires added to your index file for verification directly in your sitezadmin. To add it go to sitezadmin->edit settings(tab) -> edit stats and enter it into the 'Validation Code' section.

Sitemap:
We have build in an auto-generate button in your sitezadmin->edit settings(tab) -> edit stats that will generate a sitemap.xml for you and put it in the root level of your site. You will want to regenerate it after any changes to your site content have been made.

SEO optimization:
We have added some SEO features into our new templates. Though this does not guarantee you'll be picked up by google it should help. When google visits your site it will see a stripped down (no formatting or styling) version of your content and menu so that it can crawl the site content outside of flash.

SEO Steps you can take:
The built-in SEO features will help with search engines crawling your content, but it is still important to do as much as you can to optimize your site for search engines. You can visit our list of steps to take to optimize your site in our knowledgebase. When adding links to your site on different forums, vendor lists, etc. it will be important to use the search engine friendly links to your site and pages which don't include the '#/' in them. For example a link to our calendar from jackson sample 2 is http://www.portfoliositez.com/jackson2/site/#/calendar/. The optimized link is http://www.portfoliositez.com/jackson2/site/calendar/ . When a person with flash installed visits the link it will automatically take them to the flash page. If a browser crawls it then it will be take to the stripped down html version. It can take many weeks before google will pick you up and add you to their index of sites. Unfortunately there is no guarantee that your site will be picked up or when it will be picked up.

Quick Tips:

If you are not receiving email
1. You domain name must be fully propogated in order to receive email.
2. You must login using the webmail link to ensure you are taken to your inbox once logged in through your preferred webmail app (such as horde). Your webmail link is usually webmail.yourdomain.com/ and your username is your email address and the password is the password you setup for that email address (in the cpanel).
3. The email address entered in your sitezadmin->edit contact section and the sitezadmin->shopping cart (tab) -> edit shopping cart settings must be domain name related. i.e. - you@yourdomain.com

If your site isn't loading
1. Be sure you have images uploaded to every section
2. Check to make sure every text section has a menu option of either 'menu' or 'arrow' (you can see this setting in the text section list in the sitezadmin->edit text sections.

If an image isn't loading
1. Check to ensure the watermark setting is either set on default, or if it is set on custom that a valid custom image has been uploaded
2. Check to ensure the image order is correct (no double numbers or numbers out of order). If it doesn't appear correct move one image out of place and back so the order numbers reset and then click to save the changes.
3. Check to ensure there isn't a broken side image uploaded. If you see a broken image icon instead of the image delete it and try to re-upload it. It helps to rename the image to something unique to avoid cache issues getting in the way of the image uploading correctly.

If you can't access your site, sitezadmin, cpanel, or webmail
This usually means that your IP was blocked from either too many connections in an hour or too many failed logins. Submit a ticket to us and include your IP (which you can find at whatismyipaddress.com) and we will check the server firewall to see if you were blocked and unblock you.
